“America’s most celebrated banjoist” (LA Times) and 13-time Grammy winner Béla Fleck has earned two 2010 Grammy Awards for ‘Throw Down Your Heart’ (Rounder):  Best Contemporary World Music Album & Best Pop Instrumental Performance, for the title track.  Through on-location collaborations with musicians from Uganda, Tanzania, the Gambia and Mali, Béla Fleck explores the African origins of the banjo, transcending barriers of language and culture.

February 2nd marks the release of ‘Throw Down Your Heart:  Africa Sessions Part 2, Unreleased Tracks,’ the first album through Fleck’s own record label.  The musical travelogue features collaborations with Afel Bocoum (guitar), Haruna Samake Trio (n’goni), vocalist Oumou Sangare, Albert Bisaso Ssempeke, Jr. (bowed lyre),  Bassekou Kouyate (n’goni), the Muwewesu Xylophone Group, guitarists Djelimady Tounkara and D’Gary, Jesus Jah Jarju (akonting), the Jatta Family, and thumb pianist Anania Ngoliga.
